Shima-lab organizes many events such as Welcome/farewell party, Hanami (Spring), BBQ, Pizza party (Summer), Lab outings (Autumn), Year-end party, New-year party (Winter) etc.

Sakata (D1) and Sekijima (M2) presented at SI2016 held at Sapporo convention center.

2016/11/09 Sakura science program
Ten students (2nd and 3rd year students) from the new Mongolian institute of technology visited our laboratory under the Sakura science program (organized by Dr. Kawamura of the function creation division) of the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST).
It was a very good learning experience for the students of our lab. Although, I think it was very difficult for them to make a presentation and ask questions in English.

Uda (M2) and Dr. Shimatani (co-researcher) gave a presentation at LIFE2016 held at Tohoku University Aobayama campus.
The day before presentation, we had a pep rally. I heard Sendai's beef tongue is not domestically produced.

In the evening, just for the sake of it, we had a meeting on a whiteboard.

2016/08/06 Open campus and spring semester completion party
After the midterm presentation and open campus, we had a summer lab cleaning session and pizza party! We had a pizza party with Mr. Wong who was a research student last year.
Pras attended the lab party for the first time, and everyone did their best at speaking English. Great Job!

2016/04/29 BBQ and welcome party for new students part 2
Annual BBQ event was held.
Aoki, a graduate of the school, came to the party, and Diego and Kaihara joined us. It was a beautiful day.
The bamboo shoots we were served were great!

We held a welcome party for new students with 5 new members for 2016! Takazawa, a graduate, and Shinozaki joined us!
